Tonight!

August 16, 2009 · 2 Comments

I can’t get into television. I may be the only 20-something American who has never seen a full episode of Friends . I admit, I watched Gossip Girl here and there, but even that tapered off completely. (Mostly because I had a crush on bad boy Chuck on that show.) But, I am head overs heels in love with Mad Men . Don Draper can be my husband or, even better, my lover anytime he wants. It’s subtle and smart and at times can be slow and other times completely shocking. “Did that just happen?” “Is she drinking AND smoking while pregnant?” Oh, the ad industry – it seems like it could have been much more fun back then.

Wonder what the gang at Sterling-Cooper are going to be up to? Check it out tonight as season 3 premiers tonight on AMC.

Hope everyone has fun at their Mad Men themed parties drinking martinis and Tom Collins.

This past weekend was a busy one indeed! Yesterday we moved my Chandler + Price 12 X 18 new series press from Broadview, IL (south suburb of Chicago) to my new studio on Ravenswood in Chicago. Dana blogged about the news here and I will be sharing a space with her – Shimmer Studio.. Dana has a Heidelberg Press she moved in yesterday – so the ladies are together finally!

hello there!

I should really be working on a freelance project right now, but I wanted a little time to relax before getting to work. I printed this last Friday on a Vandercook Universal I.

Two color letterpress on Mr French Paper envelope. with a Green Paper Company envelope.

These are now in the shop.

I have two mini vacations in a row that I am looking forward to taking! Both are going to be inspirational trips that I really need – especially now that we are in the cusps of spring. I need to shed my winter all work and no play skin. The first is going to be a little letterpress adventure and the next weekend I will be traveling to Kansas City for the art openings and also participating! Which means, I need to get to matting and framing and mail most of it out. I heart Kansas City. It’s the perfect city for an artist to call home.

As soon as Drew comes home, I will pull the names for the art giveaway.

Us ladies at { Fill in the Blank } gallery are proud to present the talented Tim Campbell and the lovely Alice DuBois.

I N F O :
Friday, March 6th 8-11pm
show runs from March 6th – April 26th
Painters Alice K. DuBois and Timothy L. Campbell are obsessed with alchemy. And each other. One of DuBois’ favorite books, and an influence on her art, is The Hermetic Museum: Alchemy & Mysticism. At her recommendation, Campbell read this book and quickly found its contents to be a deep source of inspiring material. THE ALCHEMY OF COOPERATION is an exhibition of their individual alchemical explorations, as well as collaborative works.

Congtrats to the winner of the art giveawayy – Drew Lee picked Jude Buffum’s name!
Jude, please kindly email me at: ctomczyk@gmail.com with your address so I can send the print your way!

I always love when people I don’t know win – it’s a good way to connect with strangers far away. Like pen pals, right? Which by the way, in Junior High I had like 12 pen pals. I somehow figured if I was ever going to be a world traveler, it would be wise to know people everywhere. I am still working on the world-traveling gig… it may be a while still.

Have a wonderful weekend!

There is, always Paris.

January 28, 2009 · 2 Comments

My friend Carissa forwarded me an email wishing us a “Bonne Année – Feliz Ano Novo – Happy New Year – Auguri” from the little hotel we stayed at in Paris last year. I never expected a place to steal my heart like Paris did. I told myself repeatedly in my head, “it’s just Paris.” But, Paris does have that “je ne sais quoi” about it, and I fell in love despite attempts at keeping my heart at bay. This lovely photo was attached to the email and I thought I would share. It’s been a hectic week and just the thought of this place leaves me at ease.

As far as Paris, I am coming back at 30, the boy in tote. Just wanted to share this lovely photo! I’ll be up late cutting away at a big freelance project. Bonsoir!

blog, blog, blog…

December 3, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’ve been so busy lately, I haven’t been able to keep up with my favorite blogs – so I was super psyched when I noticed I got a posting in decor8! Sort-of surreal actually. I was scrolling down the page and I was like, “Hey!! That is my stuff!” I guess I am not used to being blogged about in a place I regard as top-notch!

Alright, time to get to work! Ciao, ciao!
