This Friday, at the Old Town School of Music in Lincoln Square, I am having an art show with two super talented painters Tim Campbell and Alice DuBois. Come drink, listen to music, check out art, and be merry.
Reception: Friday, October 3, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Old Town School of Folk Music_4544 N. Lincoln Ave.
In studio/gallery news, us girls are gearing up and getting the boring business stuff taken care of so we can focus on the more glamorous parts of a gallery- window displays! We were all very excited about this current endeavor and hope we can have rockin’ gallery openings. We just need to decide on a name super fast – eek! Wednesday evening I am drawing the art giveaway names!

Ladies + Gents,
Here is the first art give away of hopefully many! This is a 2 color gocco print on Green Paper company paper (I love Green paper!). This piece is called Nesting Birds and looking for a lovely home. The drawing for this will be on Wednesday October 1st. Please leave a comment with your name and I will add you to the mix. On October 1st my wonderful assistant will draw names and we will go from there.

We also looked at a wonderful space for a gallery/store today. It’s priced so low. (Thank goodness that Chicago is still a big city with decent prices, as long as you hunt around.) It would be me and a few other girls. We’re tossing the idea around. I have no doubt we can make it work with all our connections and networks, it’s just the upfront costs and organizing and details that are overwhelming. Luckily we are all smart girls that can make it work, have a pool of talented and well connected friends, and have boyfriends + husbands who are ready to roll up their sleeves and help us. What do ya’ll think of the space? There is also a small basement.

Here are some happy art exchanges between Product Superior and Loyalty and Blood, our tent neighbors at the fair. Both their websites are in the works, so check out their etsy sites. I love the well designed cards from Product Superior and hope to see a lot more of them! As far as the whale necklace, I’ve been eying that fella since I found out they were our neighbors. I am very happy wearing him around my neck. Both of these creative endeavors are run by talented duos out of Brooklyn.

Wow, Renegade Craft fair was rough – record rain in Chicago, but we somehow managed! Here are photos of the booth. I will post more photos later of fun things I bought and art trades. Overall, it was lovely seeing people, meeting people, and braving the elements.
I am still recovering with lots of sleep. Thanks to everyone who came out!

We will be at booth 79 – holding down the fort! Yes, it’s going to rain ALL weekend, but it will be fine – I have all my prints and paper goodies packaged neatly and safely. There will also be bands this year, including Northern State and Califone!
A few weeks ago, at the Bucktown Arts Fair, I finally picked up a
Circa Ceramics Piece! Andy and Nancy from Circa Ceramics will also be at Renegade. Including Beth from Freshie and Zero and our tent neighbors, Loyalty and Blood from Brooklyn, baby!

My Happy little Leica piece from Circa Ceramics, a perfect addition to the credenza!

It’s amazing how my color choices tend to change with the seasons. These all feel very fall to me – very pumpkin spice latte, if you will. All of these are now in the Paper Parasol shoppe .
As I gear up for the weekend, part of me wants to come up with another small screen print. I think I will. Wish me luck!
Oh, and happy one year anniversary to my little blog! It all started here.

Being only one person in this world is pretty tough at times. Good thing we have each other.

Don’t forget to step back from it all and treat yourself.

Through friends and work I’ve been lucky to meet some creative gals, who as you know, will be setting up a tent with me at the Renegade Craft Fair.
Courtney Fischer who makes beautiful jewelery has been featured on a wonderful blog called Fawn Blog out of Utah. This blog is lovely and has so many amazing designers on it. Thanks for sharing, Courtney!

I’m a Fall type of gal- the colors, the energy in the air, the smell of baked goods! (I tend to bake more when it’s cooler out.) Here are some things that made me happy the past 2 days:

1) Dancing on the square near my house to some lovely music- sigh! I love this place. It reminds me of the Battersea area of London.
2) My lovely and talented friend, Holly at Thread and Needle. Her bike is wonderful! And check out her stuff, she is one of my partners in crime for the Renegade Craft Fair.
3) These puppies I picked up at Target. I’ve been unimpressed with their shoes all year, so when I saw these beauties, I was on them. I love ocher! Perfect for the first day of school and so comfortable for a busy lady who is constantly on her feet and running around the city.
4) old book pages of foreign languages
Today I met up with Holly and Kristen from Short Torso at the Grind. It was nice talking business and inspirational at the same time. I think it would be nice to get a few ladies and gents together to discuss matters and learn from each other. We can also share our oh-so-exciting stories on obtaining IBT #s and what not. Good times over good company, good food, and coffee. Maybe we can have little meetings here and there – perhaps starting in early October?
Oh, time to pull a late night.
