It’s official – the entire apartment has once again become my studio. That’s just the way I roll. I start off on one end and make my way over the west end of the apartment. Good thing the boy is glued into lots of freelance web design work! He hardly notices.

You’re a Reel Catch, 4bar card on Mr. French Paper – letterpressed with beautiful, ancient lead type and screened printed image.
Happy Friday to all!

During the months of August and September I will have work at Strange Beauty Show and the The Small Bar – both in Wicker Park. The Strange Beauty Show cuts a good haircut!
I am not a big fan of openings, but the Small Bar is definitely a great space – so come on out and keep me some company!

I will also have art hanging at the Montrose Beans + Bagels.
Alright, ya’ll, keep on rockin’ the free world. I have some illustrations to work on!

Good thing it rained all day Saturday. I tend to get cabin fever very easily. Today was nice, so I convinced Drew to hit up our favorite old-school, mini golf place. I won, so loser buys lunch. Too bad the photo booth was out of order this time around, but that tends to happen mid-summer. I had three dollars burning a hole in my pocket and looking for a photo booth quick fix, so that was disappointing. I got a lot accomplished this weekend and in the next few months there’s not going to be very much down time. I added a new digital print to my shop. I think I am going to start doing more digitally colored prints in the shop. I also worked on some cards and fun things (more on that later!). Here’s the digital version of Nesting Birds .

I am trying to keep the textures going on the digital prints, as you can see from the background.
I also made this logo for my friend, Holly.

Holly at Thread and Needle, Courtney and myself are all headed to the Renegade Craft Fair Chicago! We are all super excited and gearing up for the show. It’s nice because we have a good mix – Holly is a pro on the sewing machine and Courtney creates beautiful jewelery (I’m a big fan of both and have blogged about both here and here). I think we all compliment each other nicely.
And with that, adieu! I am one tired girl and need to relax for a little more before Monday morning!

For those of you who enjoyed Helvetica, there is a new movie coming out revolving around the Hamilton Museum in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. (Drew and I are planning on visiting the museum sometime in the Fall – and I can’t wait.) The film is called Typeface and it focuses on the disappearing art and trade of setting and printing with wood type. They also did a lot of filming over at Columbia College. Columbia has an impressive wood type collection too! In the past few weeks, having spent some time with the Vandercook presses, I have gained even more appreciation for this fading art and printing process. There is something so comforting in printing with wood type – even in the results and all the imperfections from age and use. In the future, I will be adding some letterpress illustrations and cards – so stay tuned
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Doing a few mini paintings for an upcoming show.

I’m pretty tired, so I am calling it a night!

I’ve been MIA for a bit. I’ve been balancing my schedule and readjusting. There’s a lot of things going on, and it’s a shame, I won’t be able to fully enjoy the nice weather of the summer. The rest of my summer is gearing up for some big shows and fairs – which is better than good – it’s great! I just need to hang on in there and remember to breath. I’m looking forward to the challenges though.
I just thought I would post these fun cupcake toppers I purchased from A. Bel Emporium’s Etsy shop.

strawberry cake cupcakes with strawberry preserves and white frosting.
