more cold. 40 degrees to 12 degrees within what seems like minutes - you know you must be in Chicago in January.

Portraits on brown paper with gouache.
Wow, I am really digging the new Radiohead In Rainbows album.

Hello There, 5×7 card with envelope © Cindy Tomczyk 2008
I only did a limited run of these 5X7 cards. There’s a few kinks I need to work out in the design, so I think I will reprint more next weekend. I should be working on a freelance project right now, but I would much rather be playing around with screen printing. :I The weekends are never long enough!

5X7 portraits - pencil on brown paper wrapping cover stock paper with gouache.
I tend to get tired of surfaces, so I took a break from paints and did five of these drawings. Plus I want to mix it up for the show I am doing in February. I kind of want the little jacket the deer is wearing in a mustard yellow or navy blue. (oh, if only possible…)
So, after 2 weekends of testing things out with silk-screening I think I came up with the right exposure time and distance the light is from the screen. That may be half of the battle - who knows how the actual printing will go. It’s so much easier to do this in a studio, but I am determined to get comfortable with screen printing at home.

I’ve been working on a little side project and hoping to launch it in a few months. I’ve been pretty drained as of late and still regrouping after the holiday spending. The fact that I have a huge problem with buying plane tickets to faraway places does not help! Damn you internet and credit cards! I’m just exercising my passport, really. :X
Here’s a little peak at what I worked on today.

Gotta keep on trucking…

Despite an unsuccessful attempt to screen print and having to work on Saturday, it was a good weekend. I have a lot of work cut out for me in the next few weeks, but it’s nothing I can’t handle. Here’s a little painting I finished over the weekend - acrylic on MDF 7.75X 7.75.

Swan Planer II
I just can’t get enough of animal planters.
